Cedar Room
Childcare for ages 2 to 3 years old.
Your child is gaining confidence and their curiosity is growing.
They’re able to dig deep into new concepts and retain an incredible number of new facts. Their emotional world is also expanding. At this age, they’re good at cooperation and building community. Their sense of empathy is stronger than ever and they’re able to communicate complex emotions as they learn how to play together and develop friendships.
Active members of a global community
It’s all about relationships
The Cedar Room is serious fun. The children extend their community rhythms and are able to take on more complex cooking and art projects that require focus and hard work. Storytelling is also an important part of the day. We read books, sing songs, and put together puppet shows that help children describe the world and their relationships to each other. Storytelling helps them work through profound ideas and feelings so that they can better understand themselves and act with compassion toward others.
Restorative justice is an important part of what we do in the Cedar Room. That’s a big word, but what it’s about is relationships—how do we right wrongs so that everyone has what they need, feels better, and stays friends? Our teachers guide children to find cooperative solutions to conflict and to be agents of peace for themselves and their school community.
