Curriculum
At Wow and Flutterville Playgardens, our curriculum is built around a deep trust in the brilliance of childhood. We believe that joy, curiosity, and play are not only how children learn—they’re also how they thrive.
Our approach is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and Waldorf traditions, blending child-led discovery with intentional rhythms, rich environments, and community connection.
A Living Curriculum:
Emergent and Evolving
Rather than teaching to a script, we follow the children’s lead. Each day, our Teachers observe and respond to the questions, interests, and wonderings of the children in their care. From there, we co-create learning experiences that are deeply meaningful, sensory-rich, and collaborative.
Whether a friend is fascinated by shadows, the changing seasons, or the rhythm of drums—our curriculum flows from that curiosity.
We call this emergent curriculum, and it’s at the heart of everything we do.
Core Pillars of Our Curriculum
Agency & FreePlay
We believe every child has a right to choose how they engage with the world. Unstructured play is central to our approach—it invites problem-solving, social-emotional growth, and joyful exploration.
Connection to Nature
We believe every child has a right to choose how they engage with the world. Unstructured play is central to our approach—it invites problem-solving, social-emotional growth, and joyful exploration.
The Arts as Language
Children are natural artists, and we make space every day for them to express themselves through music, movement, paint, sculpture, storytelling, and more.
Mindfulness & Movement
Yoga, breathwork, and body awareness are gently woven into the day. These practices support emotional regulation and nurture whole-child development.
Community & Belonging
We hold space for rituals, seasonal celebrations, and shared meals. We honor each family’s culture and traditions, and we use American Sign Language (ASL) daily to deepen inclusion and communication.
Our Rhythm, Not a Rigid Schedule
We believe in following the child, not the clock.
Each Playgarden follows a predictable rhythm—not a rigid schedule—helping friends feel safe and supported while allowing for flexibility and flow. Our rhythms include time for:
FreePlay and open-ended exploration
Group circles and storytelling
Outdoor play and nature walks
Meals and nourishing snacks
Rest or nap time
Music, art, and sensory discovery
Movement, yoga, and mindfulness
Community rituals and reflection

Guided by Highly Qualified Teachers
Our Teachers are experienced in early childhood education and trained in developmentally appropriate, inclusive practices. More importantly, they lead with empathy, curiosity, and deep respect for each child’s individuality.
Their role is not to instruct, but to listen, witness, and support the unfolding of each child’s unique path.
